Test Your Battery
A dead battery can be a huge inconvenience when you’re traveling. It’s important to have yours tested to make sure that it’s working optimally. Make sure that you have jumper cables packed, just in case.

You should also check your various fluid levels to make sure they’re at the adequate level. While you may be able to simply top some of them off, check the recommended maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual to see if you’re due for a replacement instead. Your various fluids include:

Inspect Your Tires
Before you leave, it’s also important to inspect your tires. Make sure that they’re each at the recommended PSI (pounds per square inch). You also want to make sure they each have at least 4/32 of an inch of tread.
Check Your Lights
Grab a friend or family member to help you check your vehicle’s headlights, taillights, and brake lights. Don’t forget to check your turn signals as well. If anything isn’t working properly, make sure to replace it before you go.
